Last week I had the opportunity to use the “Me – We – Us” method in a company. The topic was “What is the current operational problem? We need to clarify what kind of problem team members are facing from operational point of view, such as duplicated work. Usually, we are familiar with free discussion among the team. Our team is relatively open minded, so members can discuss openly. but sometimes it takes a lot of time to finalize the conclusion. This time, I suggest that everyone write down as many problems as they can imagine on the shared PowerPoint in the first 15 minutes. Someone said that this is the time for discussion, not the time for writing. But we just tried to write down the ideas. After 17 minutes, everyone had finished writing their comments. We had 4 people, then each person had about 10 comments. That means we visualized 40 comments only in 17 minutes. This phase was “Me”. Then I proposed to use “Silent move” method to create grouping. I propose QCD category. Q as Quality C as Cost D as Delivery. after that member will move comment card in no conversation. This stage is the beginning of “We”. Members had started to clarify the issues not by person but by team. They moved their mind from themselves to the team. They can see members’ comment and understand what members feel, then they can think more deeply as a team. We can gradually make the key element of this topic. We will continue this method next week. This was the great experience for me that I can use the method in the real business. My motivation is getting high!
